Stop Living Like a Servant: You’re an Heir in Christ

Eternal Perspectives

Most believers know they are saved. But knowing you are saved and living as a son are two entirely different things.

There is a version of Christianity that is doctrinally correct but positionally confused. It produces people who pray hard, serve faithfully, and still feel powerless. Who are waiting for an authority they already carry. Who are striving for a blessing they are already seated inside.

The problem is not their faith. The problem is their identity. And identity determines posture. When you see yourself as a servant, you perform. When you see yourself as a son, you reign.

Why do sons of God still live as servants, striving for what is already theirs?

Believers in general know they’re saved. But they don’t live like sons.

They still strive. Still battle. Still feel powerless. Why? Because they see themselves as servants, not heirs. Somewhere deep inside, they believe their only purpose is to do something for God. So their relationship becomes transactional.

  • “If I serve more…”
  • “If I pray harder…”
  • “If I sacrifice more…”

Then maybe power will show up. But that’s not sonship. That’s performance. Struggle comes from identity confusion. Authority flows from sonship awareness.

What does Romans 8:17 reveal about your identity as heir and co-heir with Christ?

Romans 8:17 says: “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.”

You are not waiting for authority. You are not qualifying for power. You are already in it. The moment you see yourself as a son, everything shifts.

The word “heirs” is not a future promise. It is a present identity. Co-heirs with Christ means you do not access the Father’s resources through petition. You access them through union. You are not a servant asking for a wage. You are a son living in the inheritance.

What does John 5:19 teach sons about walking in the Father’s authority?

1. Sons Have the Father’s Authority

John 5:19: “The Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing.”

Most people try to make things happen on their own. That’s how the fall happened. We don’t work for power. We walk in it.

  • Stop thinking: “I need to pray harder to get more power.”
  • Realise: You already walk in Father God’s authority.

What does Luke 10:19 reveal about how sons govern rather than beg?

2. Sons Don’t Beg — They Govern

Luke 10:19: “Behold, I have given you authority… over all the power of the enemy.”

Most believers live like servants, asking God to do what He has already empowered them to do.

  • Stop praying: “God, please move on my behalf.”
  • Start walking in your Kingdom authority. Sons don’t wait for permission. You have the Holy Spirit to manifest the Father’s will.

What does Ephesians 1:3 confirm about the spiritual power you already carry?

3. Sons Live From Power

Ephesians 1:3: “Who has blessed us… with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places.”

You’re not trying to get blessed. You’re not waiting for more power. You’re already seated at the Father’s right hand.

  • Stop striving for: “More anointing. More power. More authority.”
  • Start seeing yourself as: Fully equipped. Fully empowered.

When you see yourself as a son, power flows naturally. You were never meant to struggle for power. You were meant to walk in it effortlessly.
