Because here’s the hard truth most believers never hear: Without identity, money will master you. With identity, money becomes your servant. Before I understood this, I was trying to “get ahead,” trying to “do better,” trying to “be more disciplined.” But all of that still came from survival mode — and survival mode is the enemy of purpose.

What happens to your finances when identity is missing?

Money becomes the thing that owns you. It dictates your mood, your decisions, your sense of security, your sense of worth. When identity is absent, finances fill the void — but they fill it with anxiety, not abundance. Every unexpected expense becomes a crisis. And when abundance is understood as identity rather than outcome, every area of your life begins to reflect the reality of who you already are.

When you live from identity, money stops controlling you. Fear stops driving you. Purpose becomes your default. Abundance becomes your normal. Money shifts from being a master to being a tool — a resource that serves the purpose you were designed to carry, rather than a metric by which you measure your worth.

Identity is what the patriarchs lived from. Identity is what Jesus restored. Identity is what the Holy Spirit reinforces in you every single day. And the more you live from that identity, abundance becomes a natural byproduct of the life you carry — not a reward for the striving you endure.

How do you root yourself in covenant identity?

By understanding that your access to Kingdom abundance is not performance-based. It is covenant-based. You are a son, not a servant. You are an heir, not an applicant. The breakthrough in your finances does not come from trying harder — it comes from seeing more clearly who you already are in Christ.

Most believers struggle financially not because they lack discipline, or opportunity, or open doors — but because they have not yet rooted themselves in covenant identity. When that root goes deep, everything else begins to align.
